Ryan J. Michel, D.O.

Dr. Michel comes to Spectrum Eye Care after serving as an active-duty Ophthalmologist in the U.S. Army. Whiles serving, he provided comprehensive ophthalmology care to service members, retirees, and their dependents including cataract surgery and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). In addition, Dr. Michel has extensive experience in refractive surgery as he conducted LASIK and PRK for military service members to improve their capability to defend this great nation.

Dr. Michel is a native of northern Ohio and is happy to be back home. He obtained Bachelors in both Biology and Chemistry from Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio. Dr. Michel then attended medical school at Des Moines University, in Iowa on a U.S. Army Health Professions Scholarship leading to his commission into the Army upon graduation. He completed his transitional internship at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX and his ophthalmology residency at San Antonio Uniformed Service Health Education Consortium in San Antonio, TX. He most recently served as the Chief of Ophthalmology at Winn Army Community Hospital in Ft. Stewart, GA.


Dr. Michel is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Medical Association.


​​​​​​​Dr. Michel and his wife, Karen, are excited to raise their young family with small-town midwestern values. Dr. Michel is looking forward to providing care to the people of Findlay and the surrounding area.
